I have quite light-colored glasses on my car but the Traffic Police harassed me a lot yesterday. They go completely on their own subjective assessment of darkness. You can very well understand that the visibility of the objects inside the car (with tinted glass) from outside depends on the intensity of light (glare) outside and the angle at which you are looking at it!
